The
Gallia County Jail is classified as a “full service” jail by the State of
Ohio Bureau of Adult Detention. The jail was built in 1956 and has
underwent many changes since that time. The jail at one time had 40 beds and
since has been certified to have only 22 due to changing jail standards. The
Sheriff and county Commissioners are looking for ways to improve our current
jail and expand the ability to serve our communities and courts better. The
correction staff oversees the daily operation of the jail as well as court
