  •  The Investigation Unit consists of three full time detectives.

 

  •  This unit is responsible for processing crime scenes and doing the investigative follow-up for crimes reported in unincorporated areas of Gallia County.

 

  •  The county is divided up into three zones.   Upon the filing of a felony criminal complaint, the information is reviewed and based upon the geographical location within one of the three zones; the case then is assigned to one of the detectives.

 

  •  Detectives are assigned all felony investigations including crimes against persons, crimes against property, and vice crimes.

 

  •  The personnel of this unit have advanced training in evidence recognition/collection, crime scene processing, photography, surveillance, and conducting interviews and interrogations.  Personnel also receive ongoing legal update training.

 

  •  The detective assigned to a case will keep the case open and active from the investigative stage through the prosecution stage.  He/she will keep close contact with the victim(s), witnesses, and prosecutors until which time the case is either adjudicated through the courts or closed for lack of evidence.

 

  •  Detectives normally work during business hours but are subject to call out 24 hours a day 7 days per week and holidays for reports of serious.

 

  •  The Investigative Unit may be reached M-F from 8:00am until 4:00 pm by calling (740) 446-4614.
