Programs for Our Seniors

The Gallia County sheriff's Office and it's staff have been working hard to bring new programs to the senior citizens of Gallia County. Programs to help our seniors with such issues as health and safety in the home, the work place  and out in the public. If you have any ideas or would like to volunteer, or know of a senior who would benefit from these services please contact the Sheriff's Office at (740) 446-1221.

Scams and Con Artists

The Gallia County Sheriff's Office is constantly striving to identify scams and schemes that target our seniors who are far to often preyed upon by criminals and con artist who have nothing better to do with their time than to take advantage of others.  Please know who you are doing business with.

Here are some steps to follow to help keep you from being a victim.

  •   Ask for references and check them out.
  •   Contact the Better Business Bureau for complaints.
  •   Never pay in advance.
  •   Be sure to write down vehicle license plate numbers.
  •   Check with Law Enforcement to see if any scams have been reported.
  •   Public utilities workers have proper identification and properly marked vehicles.

Remember, "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is". Don't hesitate to call your local law enforcement agency if you need assistance or to report possible scams.
