William E. (Bill) Sowers Case

On November 17th, 2006 the body of William E. Sowers, aka “Bill”, was discovered at his home on Mt. Tabor road in Huntington Township, Gallia County. The death was suspicious in nature and the Bureau of Criminal Investigations Crime Scene Unit was contacted to process the scene. After completing the scene, Mr. Sowers’ body was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for autopsy.

Gallia County Corner Dr. D. Whiteley, determined the cause of death as homicide. The manner of death is being withheld to protect the integrity of the case. The case is now an active homicide investigation.

Authorities are in possession of sufficient information to support a theory that the victim was killed by someone known to him. Furthermore, it is believed that the victim may have been involved in illicit drug activity.

It is likely that someone from the area has information that may bring justice to this case. That person may or may not be involved in drug activity however; the focus is to arrest the person or persons responsible for killing William “Bill” Sowers. Sheriff Martin urges anyone having any information about this case to contact Detective Chad Wallace or Captain John Perry of the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office at 740-446-4614 or the Sheriff’s anonymous tip line 740-446-6555
