Sheriff’s Office Work Release Center:
The Gallia County Work Release Center is an alternative to jail. Those persons
who have
been convicted of minor criminal offenses may petition the court to serve their
sentence at
this facility. This allows the resident to continue to work without losing his
employment.
This facility is of a minimal security level, however the residents are
monitored in the
facility, as well as, at their job sites. All residents must pay to stay at this
center. They
also have rules to follow. Any violation of these rules could result in the
resident losing their
work release privilege and starting his sentence over at the county jail.
All residents are responsible for their own transportation to and from their
employment, as
well as, to any court dates and medical appointments. Residents are also
responsible for
their own medical expenses. Drug and Alcohol testing is completed for each
resident. Sheriff’s
Correctional Staff, as well as, Court probation officers will monitor the
residents assigned to
serve a sentence at this facility.
Persons without employment may petition the court to work off their fines, but
must pay to
stay at the center. The fee for the pay-to-stay is based in the income of the
resident and
must be paid by 9:00am each Monday. The Work Release Center is not responsible
for any
lost or damaged property belonging to the residents. Jewelry, cell phones,
knives, box
cutters or any other personal property will not be permitted inside the center.
The Work
Release Center does offer a commissary where residents may purchase snack food
and hygiene
products. The center is scheduled to open in February of 2010.
The Work Release Center is also available to outside county agencies.
