Deputies Seize Narcotics and Cash
Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin has released a statement regarding a seizure of narcotics and cash in Gallia County. Sheriff Champlin states “On Thursday, August 20, 2020, Deputies responded to the Gallia Metropolitan Estates, located on Buckridge Road, in regards to a domestic related situation. Upon arrival and through the course of their investigation, it was determined that illegal narcotics were inside of the residence. As a result, a search warrant was obtained and served on the residence which resulted in narcotics, cash and equipment associated with drug trafficking being located and seized.” Champlin further states “The seizure of these narcotics are an example of how our deputies look beyond the initial call for service to ensure we are doing everything we can to make our communities safer. We have made significant strides in removing this poison and those responsible from our community, but there is still more work to be done”.
As a result of this investigation, one individual, Shaya L. Cart (age 36 of Bidwell, Ohio) has been incarcerated in the Gallia County Jail and charged with an initial charge of Possession of Drugs. Additional charges are pending further investigation and consultation with Prosecuting Attorney Jason Holdren. “I would like to thank our law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line each day to protect us and to the citizens of Gallia County for their continued support of my office as we continue this war to take back our community,” states Champlin.
